Theodor Boveri

In 1891 David Hansemann observed asymmetric mitoses in all of the epithelial cancers he examined. This led him to the hypothesis that, “The cell of the malignant tumor is a cell with a certain abnormal chromatin content.”

Theodor Boveri formulated the first aneuploidy theory of cancer in 1914.
